A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

Let us introduce ourselves

That spring of 1987, 27-year-old Marisa was widowed with two small children. She, too, was from Thailand, and she was taking college prep classes at Maple Woods Community College. She wasn’t interested in a romantic relationship but was happy to at least say hello to Dom, a fellow student.

They met at the school and exchanged basic information. Dom was 21 and had been in America one year. When he learned they both lived in the Northland, he asked whether he could visit and meet her children. By 1989 their friendship had deepened into love.

Over 20 years ago, owners Dom and Marisa traveled to Kansas City, Missouri. At that time, they did not know each other. Dom came to study while Marisa came with her husband and children. After some time, they met in college. As their friendship and love developed, they saw a great opportunity to bring a part of their culture to Kansas City. In 2000, they took a chance, changed their course and opened the finest Thai restaurant in the region. Tasty Thai has introduced the exciting, powerful flavors of traditional Thai cuisine to the Midwest.

In 2010, Tasty Thai expanded to Liberty, MO and 2014, Dom and Marisa opened up Big Bowl Pho next to their original location.

Behind the scenes, three generations work hard to ensure that tradition, quality and service are the keystones that make Tasty Thai a critically acclaimed dining experience.

On this nice spring-like day, we were thrilled to represent Big Bowl Pho and Tasty Thai at Art Soup 2018. Each year, the Synergy Services Junior Board calls upon local restaurants to serve up one of their special soup recipes to guests of the annual fundraiser, Art Soup. We’ve participated in previous years and were eager to support this cause again. Art Soup raises funds to support the music and art therapy programs at Synergy Services’ Youth Resiliency Center. And Art Soup 2018 was a happenin’ event! The vibrant Center was buzzing with enthusiastic soup fans who were enjoying music and viewing the artwork of the youth that this organization serves. Here is our lovely Pho-serving team at Art Soup 2018.

Eventually I shared a bottle of our Primal Cry Hot Sauce with Kelly. After I chatted with Kelly and shared more about my journey as a small business owner, Kelly graciously offered to share my journey as a KC small business owner.

PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY CHICKEN WINGS

Your childhood favorite is all grown up. There’s a reason that people say things go together like peanut butter and jelly, it’s the original classic combo. From elementary school to college dorm rooms, it’s a go to comfort food. Trader Joe’s has even re-imagined the childhood favorite for adult pallets with their PB&J Milk Chocolate Bar and Greek Yogurt additions. While these options make it more appropriate for your adult lunch box, it’s still not quite tailgate worthy. Until now. We’d like to introduce you to your new guilty pleasure, Peanut Butter and Jelly wings. Made with Primal Cry’s Peanut Sauce, this unique twist may just become your new favorite. Oh, and did we mention that there’s only 5 ingredients?
